Who We Are

Our Lady of the Rosary Orphanage and Primary School is located in Nabutongwa Village, Kalungu District, within the Masaka Catholic Diocese in the southern part of Uganda. This region shares its borders with Tanzania to the south and Rwanda to the southwest. Masaka serves as the epicenter of HIV/AIDS in Uganda, leading to a high number of orphaned children and single parents. The local population, similar to many other parts of Uganda, struggles with poverty, with most families living on less than two dollars a day. Nearly every family in the area cares for at least one orphaned or abandoned child. Sadly, many children drop out of school due to the inability to pay tuition fees, while others face challenges attending school because of the considerable distances involved. Unlike other parts of the world, most people in this region do not have access to private transportation, and there are no school buses available.

Education

Our school currently serves 548 children aged 3 to 15 years, covering Pre-K to 5th grade, and we are committed to adding a new grade level every academic year, ensuring a continuous and inclusive learning experience for our students.

Food and Shelter

Our campus is home to 548 resident orphans and underprivileged children, providing them with not only a safe and supportive environment but also essential necessities such as food and clothing.

Life Skills

Our aim is to equip children with practical life skills, helping them confront modern challenges with confidence and faith. Through hands-on learning and guidance, we prepare them to navigate life's complexities and contribute meaningfully to society.
